Weight Loss Metabolism

What do you do to reduce your excess weight? Generally people work hard everyday running on their treadmills, do various types of exercises, undergo a crash diet and also as a final option undergo the painful operations such as liposuction etc. but before undergoing these difficult work outs and operations, it is very important to understand about the metabolism occurring in our body which leads to weight reduction.

The metabolic rate can be defined as the rate at which our body burns out can be determined by the amount of muscles we have in our body. this is so, as our muscles utilize more amount of energy in our body to perform some exercise or work.

It is a common belief that the metabolism rates in a thin and slim person is very high while that in an overweight person is very less which leads to fat deposition in the body. But this belief is not true. Weight isn’t directly linked to the body’s metabolism.

But instead, our body weight is dependent on the total amount of calories that is consumed and the amount of calories that is burnt. If we happen to eat more calories than what our body actually requires, only then we gain weight and similarly if we take in fewer calories than the required amount then we tend to lose weight.

There can be numerous medical reasons that can cause the unnecessary increase in the body weight such as thyroid, etc. Weight gain is cased mainly due to the imbalance in the energy levels in our body.

Thus to reduce weight, we actually need to create a shortage of energy in our body by eating food items with less calories and indirectly increasing the amount of calories being utilized in our body by undergoing some physical activities.

There are certain factors which affect the amount of energy consumed and required in our body. Some of the main factors which affect the body’s weight loss metabolism are given below.

  • The body’s weight and consumption: a bigger body requires more energy to work than the energy required by a smaller body. The body’s muscles burn more calories than the fat in our body. Thus, you should have more muscles than fat in your body to lose weight.
  • Sex: the amount of fat is more in women rather than that of men and so men have a higher metabolic rate in comparison to women.
  • Age: with the increase in our age, the body muscles decreases and thus the fat deposits on our body increasing our weight. The metabolic rate also decreases thus changing the total amount of calorie requirement in our body.

Thus, depending on your metabolic activity you should undergo the various weight loss regimes for an effective result.
