Hypodonitia
There are a number of diseases associated with the teeth. There are certain diseases, which occurs because of the genetic disorder. In certain conditions individual’s teeth are completely missing. This condition is called Anodontia.
This disease is classified under three categories according to the number of the teeth missing. The condition where all teeth are missing is called Anodontia Vera,
When more than six teeth are missing is called oligodonitia and the number of missing teeth is less than six that is called hypodonitia.
Hypodonitia
Hypodonitia is a condition when a person has less than the usual number of teeth. This number can range from one to six. The most common missing teeth under the disease are wisdom teeth. The percent where the wisdom teeth are missing is more than 30. The disease also affects upper lateral incisors and lower second premolars. There are 2 to 3 percent of total conditions when these teeth are missing.
The condition of hypodonitia occurs with other abnormalities like non-progressive skin, hair, nail, sweat glands. These all abnormities occurs because of ectodermal dysplasias (a disease in which the heredity syndromes do not progress.)
Causes
The condition of hypodonitia occurs because of the genetic disorder. These types of the genetic disorders occur when individual inherits the faulty gene of the same disorder from both the parents. Such genetic disorders mostly inherited by the child of relative parents as they have more chance of carrying the same faulty gene. The chance of carrying this disease in the next generation is more than 50 percent on each pregnancy for relative parents irrespective of the sex of the child.
Treatment
Mostly this condition is associated with other abnormalities. The best cure of the disease is artificial dentition. Sometimes this disease occurs with the primary teeth: in this condition there are a lot of chances of normal dentition at the time of growth of permanent teeth. So it is better to wait until the growth of permanent teeth.
In most condition the moral teeth are missing, the dentist can fix the artificial teeth by bonding them with the orthodontic wire to neighboring teeth. If front teeth are missing than a supporting structure is created to fix the artificial teeth.
The disease Hyperdonitia is not widely spread. It is mostly found in the child of relative parents. The disease is still under research. Very soon some good invention would be there to treat the disease effectively. Most dangerous point about the disease is that it occurs with other abnormalities.
