  • Slowly compress the pinched part towards the face.
  • Hold the nose in the condition for at least 5 minutes. Repeat slowly pressing the pinched part until the bleeding stops.
  • When the pressure of bleeding is reduced, sit calmly in such a way that head is on the higher level from the heart. Lie down, place a pillow on the back of neck and allow the head elevate a bit.
  • Do not make the head down. This may cause nose bleeding again. Keep the head elevated for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Apply crushed ice on the nose and cheeks. The cool touch of ice will help in constricting the blood vessels which ultimately will stop bleeding.
  • Check after 5 to 10 minutes that whether the bleeding has stopped or not. If there is no more bleed, lie again in the same position for other 10 minutes. In most cases nose bleeding stops after the extensive pressure reduces and it happens in about 15 to 20 minutes.
