Aromatherapy Cures

Anxiety:

Oils for anxiety are:

  • Lavender
  • Jasmine
  • Neroli
  • Marigold
  • Clary sage
  • Vetivert

Add ten drops of any oils mentioned above which smells best for the bath, then soak in it for at least fifteen minutes or inhale the neat oil or make up a blend, using up to twelve drops of oil in hundred ml of a carrier oil. Massage it just between your ribs in an anti-clockwise direction. This is very relaxing.

Irritability/ lack of concentration:

Oils for it are:

  • Lavender
  • Rosemary
  • Marjoram
  • Chamomile
  • Vetivert
  • Rose
  • Neroli

They can use in the bath or for the steam inhalation. They could also be inhaled neat especially rosemary and neroli for quick relief. They can also be used in a burner or vaporizer.

Aggressiveness:

Oils for it are:

  • Lemon
  • Chamomile
  • Ylang ylang
  • Marjoram
  • Juniper

Use 12 drops of oil in 100 ml of carrier oil for massage, concentrating on the solar plexus and abdomen. A good blend is lemon, marjoram and ylang-ylang. They can be used in the bath also.

Fatigue:

Oils for fatigue are:

  • Rosemary
  • Juniper
  • Lavender
  • Geranium
  • Neroli

Use up to ten drops of oil in your bath and soak in it for five to ten minutes. You can add six drops of oil to 50 ml of carrier oil. Rub it on your solar plexus to uplift the energy levels.

Shaving rash:

Shaving removes the dead cells from the skin’s surface and makes the skin extra-sensitive. After shave lotions usually contain alcohol and can irritate an already sensitive skin

Add 3 drops of clary sage oil and three drops of lavender to 300 ml of rose water or orange flower water. Pat it on your face after shaving and repeat two to three hours later

Dandruff:

It occurs when dead skin cells accumulate on the scalp and fail to shed themselves normally. They build up and then fall off in large scales.

Try massaging the following blend into your scalp twice a week before shampooing: Add six drops of rosemary and four drops of cedarwood oil to hundred ml of jojoba or avocado oil. Leave it for half an hour. Then wash with a mild shampoo. Also add one drop of each essential oil to your final rinsing water after shampooing.

Headache/ migraine:

Oils for headache are:

  • Peppermint
  • Chamomile
  • Rosemary
  • Lavender

Add twelve drops of oil to 100 ml of carrier oil and massage it into your temples, neck, and up into the base of your skull and scalp. Steam inhale using twenty drops of oil in eleven litres of hot water. If you have nausea with your headache, peppermint is good.

General aches/ pain:

Oils for general aches are:

  • Black pepper
  • Eucalyptus
  • Rosemary
  • Chamomile

Put ten drops in your bathwater and massage the affected area.

Indigestion:

A heavy meal results in acidity. Peppermint oil is a good remedy for digestive problems.

Add twelve drops of peppermint oil to 100 ml of carrier oil and gently massage it into your stomach and solar plexus. Dab a little of the blend under your nose so you can inhale it.

Constipation:

Oils for constipation are:

  • Juniper
  • Rosemary
  • Fennel
  • Black pepper

Add twelve drops of oil to 100 ml of carrier oil and massage it into your abdomen.

Hay fever:

It is an allergic reaction caused by the pollens of various shrubs, trees and grasses. Symptoms are sneezing, sore red eyes and running nose. Aromatherapy helps to ease hay fever, but it is not the cure.

Add six drops of hyssop oil to a bowl of hot water and inhale the steam. Alternatively, mix six drops of hyssop oil in fifty ml of carrier oil and massage it on your cheeks and under your nose regularly.

Insomnia:

Oils for insomnia are:

  • Sandalwood
  • Ylang Ylang
  • Patchouli
  • Neroli
  • Marjoram
  • Chamomile

Use ten drops in your bath and soak well. For massaging, use twelve drops of oil in 100 ml of a carrier oil. You can also inhale it neat. Camomile is one of the most sedative oils and it could also be tried in a burner. You may also drink camomile tea before going for sleep.

Pain/ muscle tension:

Oils for it are:

  • Black pepper
  • Eucalyptus
  • Rosemary
  • Lavender
  • Juniper

Massage is the best way to treat pain and tension. Work on your back, neck and shoulders with one of the oils mentioned above. Eucalyptus is good pain reliever. Use it in the bath and then follow with an aromatherapy massage.

Depression:

Oils for depression are:

  • Sandalwood
  • Lavender
  • Clary sage
  • Marjoram
  • Ylang Ylang
  • Chamomile
  • Frankincense

They can be used in the bath up to ten drops in a full tub. They can also be inhaled neat or can also be used in a burner or vaporizer. A blend of lavender, clary sage and chamomile is good for massage.
